This is called bits of bass.
This is my favorite fretless bass made by Wal (http://walbasses.homestead.com/index.html) in 1983, I have had it since 1988.

I'm working on a project to port the recently released Shairport tool that emulates an Airport Express to iOS and Mac OS X. (Disclaimer: this app is for personal use since it uses a leaked private key, I have no intention to release it on the app store). Ideally, my app will be more of a framework or library that anyone can use for their apps. Shairport is written in Perl/C so it is not suitable for "user-friendly" deployment to iOS and Mac OS X. My app will use OpenSSL for the AES and RSA encryption, ASyncSockets for HTTP and UDP networking, and nothing else. The idea is to make this a native app, no perl, no avahi, no libao, no software ALAC decoder.
As of now, I have the secure handshaking aspect of the RAOP protocol working as well as native Bonjour/Zeroconf/mDNS/Whatever you want to call it broadcasting working. I am able to respond to the RTSP requests OPTION, ANNOUNCE, and SETUP. iTunes will see my app as an Airport Express in the AirPlay list and will begin streaming audio in ALAC format to the app. I am successfully listening on the 3 UDP ports specified by the SETUP request, however, I'm at a bit of a loss on how to decrypt this with the AES keys from the SETUP request and how to feed this into CoreAudio.
Couple of questions to the community:
1) Are you working on anything similar, if so, perhaps we can collaborate? I would have no objections with starting an open-source project around this, however my code is at the uber-early proof of concept stage at this point.
2) Do you have experience using CoreAudio and the AudioFileStream format, if so, do you have an example you'd be willing to share?
3) Have you ever streamed audio to an Airport Express before? Is it a straight-up ALAC bitstream that reads bits from the file and spits it out as UDP packets? Are the headers intact?
4) Do you have an understanding of what the timing port and control ports are used for?
5) Have you looked at the shairport source code? Can you offer insights on how much of the back-end server and ALAC decoder code can be replaced by CoreAudio?

can you believe that four game that are going for .99 cents used to cost like $5000.00 each as a large arcade console just 28 years ago? Damn!

My biggest issue with this is when I buy the movie, I expect to be able to watch it on whatever I want, i.e. my HDTV, PowerBook, iPod, or, even in the near future, mobile device, as long as I own the device it's being played on.
When movie industries get the idea that limiting the devices you can play the movie on makes people want to buy the movie even less, then I might consider buying movies online. Until then, I'll stick with DVDs...

The idea of paying $50 more makes some have a hissy fit while MOST are right to complain about it in a normal, reasonable way.
AT&T is obviously more than legally able to do this but it is obvious to anyone that they are doing it strictly to add more $ to their pockets. And the response to that will be that they are allowed to and that EVERYONE wants more money. Yes, and consumers are allowed to complain when companies do something STRICTLY to make them pay more.
There is really no reason for AT&T to do this other than to make consumers pay more. When AT&T does this, they should expect a backlash
You cut off the rest of the point (you didn't even bother to quote the rest of the sentence.. you could have at least done that and bolded the part you wanted to address).... which I noticed no one addressed including you. You cut off the part where I was addressing those saying they were going to Verizon over this (which I call throwing a hissy fit since the only reason to do that cause they'll get even less of a early upgrade discount is cause you are wanting to spite AT&T). Who doesn't even let you get any discount for any early upgrades so in that respect they are worse than AT&T. So how does having a hissy fit and going to Verizon help those people who are that upset they are going to Verizon?
Plus I disagree that this is solely just to make more money (or that it is the only reason that could be why they are increasing prices). Prices of *everything* is going up these days. Which means AT&T's prices are going up. They just might be finding it is not feasible to allow people to upgrade early with that much discount.

Gotcha.
But there are many many reasons they would have a problem with that. The most predominant reason would probably be... Dare I say it... Religion.
i asked for a REAL reason.

Favorite game - "Leisure Suit Larry in The Land of The Loung Lizards".
Is that game available on current Apple products anywhere? I remember trying to win that game but couldn't think smarmy enough.

Pros are already using them...
They're idiots. Caught up in the "coolness" hype. Nothing more. And I don't consider weekend wedding photogs to be pros. I guarantee that any full time pro who needs to put food on the table does not depend on, much less condone the iPad to earn his/her keep.
Yeah, right. Like I'm going to be processing 30MB RAW files on a freaking 64gb Web browser.
LOL!
But surely there are at least some professionals (let's say 20% of those who belong to the elite group quoted above) that have at least some uses for a portable photo manipulation device
That seems reasonable to me. Photoshop is so huge and widespread that 1% of its use is a big number, big enough to encourage Adobe to develop an iPad app.
No. Proofing and this so called "manipulation" belongs in a lab where meticulous care can be devoted to delivering perfectly color balanced prints. Not a silly-assed iPad out in the field. And if said lab is out of reach then bring the lab with you in the form of something with more computing muscle.
in other words get the right tool for the job at hand and the iPad ain't it.
The iPad does nothing for me "in the field" that can't be achieved with a $99 portable DVD player used to show clients an enlarged preview. And photo journalists aren't allowed to use photoshop anyway.

I also need to keep A-list for the same reason. i might also make the switch from 1400 to 700 if i can get unlimited M2M and A-list.
How are you keeping your a list from the 1400 to 700?

Hey,
I have noticed my iphone 4 gets hot after recording for more than 2 mins, and it also heats up when taking pictures. However, it only heats up towards the right of the front speaker (it heats up on the front top right corner) on the phone. It heats up on the front, where the camera is situated directly beneath it. It is not unbearably hot. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal?

I take it math isn't your strong subject?
US debt is approximately $14 trillion. A peta- is 1000 times larger than a tera- and you are suggesting that the debt is 1000 time larger than that. That's OK, you only missed by a factor of one million.
sounds like there is a job for him in government somewhere!
just kidding

Monthly Desktops Guidelines:
For large images use [timg] rather than
Use attachments when necessary so images don't disappear when they are removed from their source
When possible, include links to the full-sized original so others can download them. If you don't want to share, state that in your posts so others don't continue to ask for links.
When quoting a post with images, remove the images to reduce clutter

The Samsung Galaxy S II is a very impressive smartphone.
It also includes Swype, the best touch screen input method ever. I've been using swype for months. The speed, accuracy, and enjoyment of using it, is simply amazing.
I'm so disappointed that Apple rejected it. Swype would add even more fun to the iPhone. Not to mention its incredible ease of use and speed.
