Don't know if you guy's have seen this video for an Apple Phone that has been floating around. http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:MbAExD1d6M8J:video.google.com/videoplay%3Fdocid%3D-3168733759916419298+Apple+Phone&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=7&client=safari
It seems like the guy who made it is trying to make a name for himself. No truth to the film... I think?

Will it be available in the iBooks store?
Exclusively available on iBooks?
Easily beaten to the punch, but thats what Id be expecting, the iBook Store being the exclusive launch partner of the book. Im sure it was probably one of the first conditions they had to agree to for Steve Jobs participation :p

... I don't think it would be very useful. I would still need the full function of my regular keyboard while doing these other things...
Assuming this does come to fruition - I think you're missing the point. I don't believe for a moment it would be designed as a reasonable substitute for a full-size keyboard. I think it's for being able to lay down a few notes when working on some tracks on the road. Then come home and have a full-sized set up you can plug in to.
Think "in addition to" not "replacement for"...

We were pulling into a parking space at Z Tejas on 6th St in Austin and as I was approaching the curb this guy walking on the sidewalk sort moved towards us like he was going to step off the curb. He had just recognized some friends of his and was greeting them and I guess didn't notice our car (it's quiet). I had to stop and wait for him to move out of the way. I turned to my wife and said "If my foot had slipped I would have run over the guy from Ed!" It was Justin Long.
He is very, very skinny BTW. The pant legs of his jeans were the size of shirt sleeves. I was that skinny once - when I was a fetus.:D

In OSX, there's no way to disable the paging file (virtual memory). This is a real problem is if you have an SSD, because half the memory is allocated on the hard drive. That means your SSD will be toast in a few years. It doesn't matter how much stuff you have open (how much memory is allocated). The operating system is always writing memory to the hard drive. Does that seem counter-productive? When you open an app, the whole point is for it to be accessible in real time, right? And you don't want it destroying your SSD slowly over time!?
In Windows 7, you can disable the paging file, and all your memory can be allocated in physical memory. It's nice just to have the option. Apple, however, loves to hide these little details, so they force you too use whatever primary hard drive for virtual memory allocation, even if it's an SSD with a questionable life span, or even an HDD.
And the argument that you don't use more than 4GB of RAM, ever, is ridiculous! Maybe you're not commanding the system to by opening a bunch of apps, but the SYSTEM will be!
Yes. In Windows, if you go over the physical RAM amount and the paging file is turned off, you'll BSOD. But if you have enough RAM, you won't! Unless you run multiple VMs or several games at once, this won't be a problem.
Apple needs to allow users to decided whether they want a paging file, especially with the cost of SSDs. If one dies and it's not on warranty, it's not a good day. And I'm more than ready to blame it on virtual memory allocation.
You CAN disable paging. I have disabled on my macbook. I have 0 page outs. Now I don't know what happens if I fill the 8gb:eek:
I have also changed sleep to stop writing to the ssd, and changed the mount options to noatime.

Wow, sucks if you ordered when it was 4-5 weeks.
People ordering after you getting units faster
Simple solution: order another one and return the one that gets to you last.

Oh! I should sell my Apple stock!!
It is down 6 cents!!!!!!!! Oh my!
I never said you should. It's just an indication of how the event is going. Apple stock is highly volatile and usually irrational.

The page http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3 says you need MacOS 10.6.6.
"You must be running Snow Leopard to address 8GB on these systems."
Did you look on the site before asking your question here?
Even odder, IMO, why would someone stick with Leopard on any Intel Mac is beyond me. Upgrade to Snow Leopard already! It's stable and generally uses *less* resources than Leopard on the same hardware. I loathe using my Leopard based machines at this point.

Please state proof that Apple is lying. Email headers from the recipient are not iron clad proof. Show me proof from Apple that they are lying - if you cannot provide factual proof that cannot be manipulated back down.
Show me proof that they're not lying.... See anyone can play this game but it doesn't do anything to push the conversation forward.
Just saying, not taking sides..

If any thing, Apple will probably completely unveil all of Leopard's features in January at Macworld. Right before consumers get their hands on Vista. Then, start taking pre-orders a week or two later, and shipping within a month. I feel safe saying that's a realistic prediction. :)

Netflix is too expensive to acquire. No one will purchase them. Netflix's only draw is that it's throw away money. 8 bucks a month is a beer at a bar. Even if the content stinks, you watch two movies and it's worth it.
That being said, Apple, Google, Amazon, even Redbox are going to wage some serious war during the next few years on Netflix. It could turn into the next Blockbuster and go bankrupt or it could reign supreme with all the goliaths nipping at their heals.
If I were a company and Apple and Google were my competition I'd probably be a little afraid. One coming at me is scary, two isn't even fair.

I think it's brilliant. I am off Apple in a big way at the moment.
+1. I still love my Macs and iPod, but Apple has been a huge letdown in the last year. It's just another gigantic corporation.
